Idyllic, impressive, always fascinating. Don't miss the excursion to the Burkhardklamm gorge in the Sterzing-Ratschings-Gossensass / Vipiteno-Racines-Colle Isarco hiking area. The 7.7 km long trail is scenically very varied and offers a pleasant opportunity to take a break. The Burkhardklamm gorge on the Fernerbach stream at the bottom of the Ridnauntal/Val Ridanna was opened as early as 1899. At that time it was not a hiking destination but a connecting path to the shelters during the First World War. After the end of the war roads and bridges were destroyed. Today the panoramic trail is accessible again and more beautiful than ever before. The starting point of the hike in the Sterzing-Ratschings-Gossensass / Vipiteno-Racines-Colle Isarco hiking area is the Maiern Mining Museum. Trail no. 9 takes about 45 minutes to reach the gorge. The panoramic trail, as the name already suggests, offers several viewpoints with impressive views of the mountain scenery of the Stubai Alps. Crossing the various bridges, you can clearly perceive the natural power of the water. The trail ends at the Aglsboden dam from where you can continue on trail no. 9 to the Grohmannhütte, Teplitzerhütte, Müllerhütte and Becherhaus huts or you can return to Maiern/Masseria, the starting point of the hike.
